From December 1 to December 15, two Tzu Chi Preschools in Walnut City and Monrovia City, California organized toy donation events to promote mutual assistance and harmony within the community. These activities assisted economically disadvantaged families and imparted important lessons about sharing and caring for children.
Tzu Chi USA Northwest Region’s San Francisco volunteers have cared for unhoused individuals for many years. Old St. Mary’s Cathedral in the city has a winter shelter for those experiencing homelessness, and the San Francisco Interfaith Center invites several charity organizations, including Tzu Chi, to take turns serving a hot dinner there on Saturdays. Tzu Chi volunteers will also provide sleeping bags and supplies to help people through the winter, caring for their needs with compassion and empathy, warming the hearts of everyone in the shelter, and accompanying them through the cold winter months amid their harsh circumstances.
