Old Friends and New Friends Gathered at Tzu Chi Midwest’s Annual Gala

Tzu Chi Midwest Region hosted its Annual Gala on November 11, 2023. Old friends and new friends gathered together, sharing stories of love, while enjoying wonderful performances. Refugees from different countries were thankful for Tzu Chi’s long-term care and vowed to become volunteers in the future, calling on more people to gather together to do good deeds, so that the power of goodness can grow stronger and stronger.

Tzu Chi USA Honored with a Certificate of Recognition at the 2023 Non-Profit of the Year Awards Ceremony

Eloise Gómez Reyes, California State Assembly Majority Leader, and the assembly member representing California’s 50th District organized the 2023 Nonprofit Awards Ceremony on June 3 in Ontario, CA. 25 organizations, including Tzu Chi USA, the American Red Cross, and the American Cancer Society, received certificates of recognition, and the Ángeles Especiales Parent Support Group, which provides assistance to families of children with special needs, was awarded Non-Profit of the Year.

Winter Distribution in Fresno Delivered Warmth to Local Farmworkers

On December 10, 2023, Tzu Chi Northwest Region’s volunteers in Fresno held a winter distribution in Laton, a town about 29 miles south of Fresno. Laton has a population of nearly 2,000 people, 89% of whom are Hispanic, and most of whom are farmworkers in the Central Valley. Many families are in special need of care and assistance during the winter when there is less work.

Building Tiny Homes for the Unhoused in Seattle

Tzu Chi USA’s Seattle Branch has been closely monitoring the issue of homelessness in the Seattle area. In addition to regularly providing free food and medical services to people experiencing homelessness, since 2022, Tzu Chi Seattle volunteers have been building tiny homes for people without housing. As of November 19, 2023, the team completed the construction of the fourth tiny house they then donated.

Environmental Education in Action in Tijuana

On October 28th, 2023, Tzu Chi US volunteers traveled to Tijuana, Mexico to recycle trash in a heavily polluted community, using action to initiate environmental protection education.
