Tzu Chi USA’s Northwest Region held a three-in-one Buddha Bathing Ceremony and exhibit, “Respect and Gratitude – The Footprints of Buddha,” inviting people from diverse religions to gather together and participate. The solemn and peaceful prayers deeply touched the attendees.
Shortly after starting its food distribution project in 1996, Tzu Chi USA National Headquarters began providing free quarterly clinics for agricultural workers and low-income families in San Bernardino County, one of the five poorest counties in the United States. After a temporary suspension due to the pandemic, the clinics resumed in 2022, offering Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine services as well as dental and eye care not usually covered by American health insurance.
Tzu Chi USA’s Mid-Atlantic Region held a training workshop for new vision care volunteers as part of a wider initiative to expand access to eye care across the region.

Tzu Chi USA Collegiate Association’s Seattle Chapter at the University of Washington held a Vegetarian Day on campus on April 29, 2023, inviting students and community members to participate, hoping to promote plant-based food and sustainable and environmentally friendly eating habits.
The National Day of Prayer is held every year on the first Thursday of May in the United States. Tzu Chi USA Northwest Region volunteers were invited to participate in the 2023 National Day of Prayer in Alameda County, California, and presented “Love and Care for All” in sign language to pray for the United States and the world.
On May 21, 2023, Tzu Chi USA’s Northeast Region held its first-ever Caring for Health Day event at PS 94 Elementary School in Brooklyn, New York. Nearly 20 practitioners offered various medical services such as Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments, acupuncture, rehab and physical therapy, dental care, and other services free of charge, attracting nearly 200 local residents in need of support.
During a six-day clinic in Tijuana, Mexico, the Tzu Chi Tijuana Medical Campus volunteers made a significant discovery. In addition to residents struggling with poverty and experiencing illness, they uncovered another pressing issue: a high rate of children dropping out of school.
For the past 27 years, Tzu Chi USA Headquarters volunteers have offered food distributions, medical care, character education, emergency relief, and other services to the San Bernardino community with love. On April 18, 2023, the San Bernardino City Unified School District presented an award to Tzu Chi for its contributions to the community.
