The Woolsey Fire broke out near Simi Valley on November 8, and, over the following two weeks, it consumed an estimated 96,949 acres in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. This devastating fire took three lives, and burned an estimated 500 homes and 1,841 structures within these communities.
Today, it is fully contained, but dense smoke from the fires has been smothering parts of the state making the air unhealthy to breathe. According to Purple Air, smoke from California’s wildfires caused northern parts of the state to record the worst levels of air quality in the world. Thousands have been rendered homeless or are displaced as a result of this destructive natural disaster.
