Hurricane Matthew has left a tragic mark on Haiti, where families grieve the loss of their loved ones as they adjust to the daunting burden of rebuilding after this, yet another blow to a long beleaguered nation. Tzu Chi’s disaster assessment team was in Haiti, formulating a disaster reliefplan that will begin in Jeremie and Les Cayes, among the hardest-hit coastal towns. Our immediate aid will provide hot meals, cholera vaccinations, and building supplies to replace roofs torn off by the storm.

“I’m really happy to work with Tzu Chi to help those needy families to get out of the situation. They are starving and in emergency need.”

Tzu Chi Foundation will then launch a Cash-For-Relief program like the one we provided in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti in 2014, and in Ecuador after the earthquake this May. Our Cash-For-Relief program is an effective means of initiating the rebuilding and recovery process, in that it enables the clean-up of devastated areas, while restoring desperately needed hope after a catastrophe.

Tzu Chi Foundation was established 50 years ago, and our footprint of aid at the forefront of poverty reduction and disaster relief continues to grow, now reaching more than 94 countries. In support of our ongoing humanitarian aid and missions, we’re hosting several events, and launching our Love Saves campaign.

Love Saves embodies a vision that by giving with love, we can save others from suffering. We invite you to join the love saves movement, and welcome you at our upcoming events that include charity concerts in Illinois, Texas, New York, and California; and a film premiere in New York City.
