Aromatic Relief: Tzu Chi USA’s Northwest Region Responds to the Pajaro Flood

In response to the severe flooding caused by March 2023’s third Atmospheric River in Pajaro, California, Tzu Chi USA’s Northwest region immediately organized a unique supply distribution. On April 23, thanks to the collective efforts of 31 volunteers, a total of $29,900 in cash card aid was provided to 195 survivors at the Hampton Inn, as well as a tea ceremony to soothe survivors’ spirits.

On May 21, 2023, Tzu Chi USA’s Northeast Region held its first-ever Caring for Health Day event at PS 94 Elementary School in Brooklyn, New York. Nearly 20 practitioners offered various medical services such as Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments, acupuncture, rehab and physical therapy, dental care, and other services free of charge, attracting nearly 200 local residents in need of support.

The Last Drive-Thru Food Distribution Marks a New Chapter for Tzu Chi Cerritos

Starting in July, Tzu Chi USA Cerritos Service Center volunteers decided to end the drive-thru distribution of fruits and vegetables started during the pandemic and returned to the pre-pandemic way, where people could push their grocery carts to long tables with food to receive supplies.

Tzu Chi Students Participate in the 1st Annual Young Community Leader Summit

Students from Tzu Chi Education Campus in Walnut, California, were invited to the local city council to participate in Tzu Chi USA’s 1st Annual Young Community Leader Summit. They delivered bilingual speeches on themes of “Ways to Save the Environment” and “Go Greener,” and were awarded certificates to commemorate the event.
