Tzu Chi Elementary School Students Help Give Used Clothing a Second Life

Tzu Chi Elementary School in Walnut, California, organized a clothes recycling drive from October 10 to 21, 2022. Everyone, from teachers, parents, and students, did their best to cooperate, with 109 people participating. In the spirit of “cherishing things and blessings,” families donated their unwanted clothes and shoes to give them a second life when people in need in the community received them. The drive seamlessly combined charity with environmental protection through recycling second-hand yet still valuable goods. A total of 250 bags of donated clothing were collected and delivered to a charity distribution site.

Uniting for a Special Holiday Distribution at Belle Haven Elementary School

Due to the continuing pandemic across the nation, and indeed the globe, most schools have continued to utilize remote learning as the main means of interaction among students and teachers. In some locations, however, students return to school once per month to receive study guides and learning kits required for online courses. For Belle Haven Elementary School, specifically, the back-to-school day fell on Wednesday, December 9th, 2020, and lasted for three consecutive days. What was unique about this month’s back-to-school days, however, was that aside from learning kits, students would also pick up Christmas presents as well.

The Community Gives Thanks at Joann Leleck Elementary School

On December 23rd, when Tzu Chi volunteers from Washington DC donated care packages full of groceries to students from low-income families in JoAnn Leleck Elementary School, a parent suddenly handed a card to Tzu Chi volunteers to express their gratitude.
