Our goal is to help communities and municipalities most strongly impacted, and we are expecting an additional supply of nearly 3.1 million surgical masks (with 1 million designated to New York and New Jersey, and funded by Tzu Chi Global Headquarters in Taiwan), over 314,000 N95 respirators/N95 alternatives, over 545,000 gloves, 100,000 isolation gowns, 40,600 coveralls, over 100,500 goggles and more to meet this end.

Tzu Chi USA’s COVID-19 Response: Striving to Meet the Needs of the Healthcare Industry

In March of 2020, Tzu Chi USA announced its efforts to expand the services rendered through the fundraising campaign, “Providing Relief During the New Coronavirus Outbreak,” and quickly obtained protective medical supplies to be delivered to frontline medical workers in the USA. On March 19th, Tzu Chi USA delivered medical supplies — including 1,560 N95 respirators and 400 safety goggles — to hospitals and medical centers in Los Angeles, New York, and Seattle.

For others, however — especially older adults and individuals with existing health problems — the virus has the potential to impact one’s health in ways that are far more severe, leading to pneumonia or even death.
