On April 10, Tzu Chi USA Chief Executive Officer, Jackson Chen, and Executive Vice President Dr. Han Huang visited the City of San Dimas and learned that the city’s senior citizens needed food assistance.

Getting a million medical masks from Taiwan to New York within two weeks is quite a miracle. But, as Horace Wang, a Tzu Chi volunteer who was responsible for the shipments’ transport and customs clearance reveals, the kindness of people encountered along the way helped make it possible and did even more.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, Tzu Chi USA Medical Foundation, under the leadership of CEO Dr. William Keh, is diligently supporting the urgent needs of healthcare workers across the United States.

On the afternoon of April 18, 2020, Tzu Chi USA’s Southern Region chapter held a second distribution of face masks at its office in Houston.
In total, Tzu Chi USA’s Southern Region chapter distributed 2,490 medical masks and 120 cloth masks on April 18.

Tzu Chi volunteers in the Greater Los Angeles metropolitan area have been diligently fulfilling their mission to help protect frontline healthcare workers. As part of their care, they took the initiative to research and contact local hospitals, to discern their needs. The volunteers then scheduled donations of medical supplies.
