Tzu Chi’s first-ever Steps for the Earth, sponsored by Condor Outdoor Products and LA County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, is set to start in just a little over two weeks on August 17th in Los Angeles, California! Planning to participate? We’re here to fill in the details of those lingering questions you might still have about the big event. 

Here’s everything you need to know.

  • Can I still register?

Absolutely! There’s still time for you, friends and family to participate. Simply visit tzuchi.us/WalkLA. With your ticket purchase, you’ll have full access to all vendors and exhibits, plus a free t-shirt! Admission is free for children under 12 and adults over 65. All proceeds directly benefit our disaster relief missions. Act now to take those first steps with us towards the future! 

*Please note that registration fees are not tax deductible. 

  • How should I prepare?

Take it one step at a time. Make sure you have comfortable shoes and water you can bring with you, like the Jing Si Eco-Friendly Water Bottle. Ensure to dress for the weather day of the event, and after a few quick stretches you’ll be ready to take off!

  • What else happens at the event?

Before the walk, you’ll get to enjoy a range of exhibits including a Tree Planting Ceremony, a Candle Light Prayer, a vegetarian food fair and more! A series of live concerts, featuring musicians like The Skip Culton Project and Tzu Shao, will accompany the walk as a festive celebration of our accomplishments. This is our thanks to you for making this event possible!

  1. What should I expect day of the walk? 

Expect to make a change! After check in, you’ll receive your free t-shirt and the excitement will commence. Below you’ll find an itinerary of events for the big day:

  • 4:00pm Check in begins. After registration taste a variety of delicious foods from sponsored vendors and explore exhibits at the opening Vegetarian Food Fair
  • 6:15pm Witness a beautiful Tree Planting Ceremony in honor of the planet.
  • 6:30pm Live Music Walk commences! 

*Remember, it’s not a race. Go at your own pace and enjoy live music performances from artists including The Skip Culton Project and Tzu Chao along the way. 

  • 8:00pm Join the Closing Ceremony and Candle Light Prayer to honor yourself and others who joined us to make a big difference with a few small steps. 
 
  • What tasty food can I try at the event? 

The walk will feature a delicious vegetarian food fair with vendors including Original Herbivore, Falasophy, and MYO Sushi. Taste the difference that ethical eating can make!

  • How can I volunteer? 

We rely on the hard work and compassion of amazing people like yourself to make this event a success. Volunteers will help with a variety of tasks throughout the big day. Join hands to support noble participants, international disaster survivors and the planet!

  •  How do I sponsor? 

As a sponsor, you can expect to make a difference in communities around the world.
