At the invitation of Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis’s Office, Tzu Chi USA joined the Los Angeles County government’s annual festival for the unhoused on December 22, 2022, presenting services such as eye screenings to 200 unhoused attendees.
Tzu Chi joined hands with representatives of communities in the inland areas of Southern California to discuss how to provide more tailored assistance to the local disadvantaged groups and low-income households.
On Saturday, October 8, 2022, Tzu Chi’s Tijuana campus in Mexico was bustling with activity. The free dental clinic Tzu Chi offered that day started immediately after a strong team arrived. The event supported patients who came after hearing about it by word-of-mouth and fortified the Tzu Chi medical team. Motivated by altruism, Dr. Martha Rosa Lucero, from the Lucero Dental Group, offered her services during the free clinic to help those in need relieve their dental problems. She also brought two other doctors and eight assistants as part of her team.

On August 14th, 2021, a deadly 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck southwestern Haiti, roughly 78 miles or 125 km west of the capital, Port-au-Prince. Mobilizing swiftly, teams of local Tzu Chi Haiti volunteers in Les Cayes began their assessment to ascertain survivors’ needs and what aid may be most effectively delivered. With local assessment missions underway, volunteers from Tzu Chi’s U.S. Headquarters in California began assembling medical kits on August 20th.
More than 11 years after one of the worst earthquake’s in Haiti’s history, a 7.2 magnitude quake struck again in the country’s southwest on August 14, 2021. The number of confirmed dead and missing are continuing to rise. As recovery efforts are underway, the ongoing threat of COVID-19, socio-political unrest, and catastrophic weather events including hurricanes, tropical storms, and flash floods looms overhead. Despite all this, Tzu Chi is committed to help.
Join us this fall for an unforgettable concert, inspired by the solidarity, compassion, and love that has grown in all of us through the pandemic. As we bring you special performances, we will be raising money that supports our long-term relief efforts that will help individuals and families get through this unprecedented moment in history.
During these difficult times, Tzu Chi volunteers strive to ensure no one fights this battle alone. Tzu Chi volunteers all over the United States are offering love and support to those who need it — from international students in Arizona, to healthcare workers in Sacramento, in New York, Washington DC, and beyond.
