From December 1 to December 15, two Tzu Chi Preschools in Walnut City and Monrovia City, California organized toy donation events to promote mutual assistance and harmony within the community. These activities assisted economically disadvantaged families and imparted important lessons about sharing and caring for children.
On January 21, 2024, more than 500 community members and Tzu Chi volunteers gathered at Tzu Chi Central Region’s year-end blessing ceremony, sharing the “Footprints of Love” of the past year.
Tzu Chi volunteers in Los Angeles distributed backpacks at Alhambra High School for children from families in need in the school district on August 2, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Volunteers packed school supplies into three types of backpacks containing a variety of new and practical school necessities. In addition, each child was given a $50 cash card to help them get ready for the new school year.
Tzu Chi worked with the Tijuana Municipal Government and City Council Member Miriam Echeverria to distribute school backpacks and stationery to nearly 1,000 children from families in need in low-income areas of Tijuana, Mexico. Tzu Chi provided 600 backpacks, 800 notebooks, pencils, rulers, compasses, drawing books, and more to help the children start the year off right.
On May 22, 2023, the Tzu Chi Mexico Tijuana Campus extended an invitation to Tijuana City Councilor Miriam Echeverria for a special visit to the Tzu Chi Education Campus in Walnut, California. The visit gave Councilor Echeverria a first-hand look at how Tzu Chi intertwines character, environmental stewardship, and meaningful life lessons with eco-farming, thereby cultivating these principles into everyday life.
On October 28, 2022, a special Halloween event, “Environmental Protection and No Tricks,” was held at Tzu Chi Elementary School, Great Love Preschool Walnut, and Great Love Preschool Monrovia. The students, teachers, and parents participated in the fun and educational holiday event.
