As the global pandemic accelerates, medical supplies for preventive measures have rapidly become valuable resources. Tzu Chi Medical Foundation obtained its third batch of medical supplies on February 25th, 2020. Volunteers prepared and packed 474 safety goggles and 960 N95 respirators in 11 boxes to be delivered to medical professionals in COVID-19 affected areas across China.
With the knowledge of how difficult it has become to obtain such crucial supplies — putting medical professionals on the frontlines at-risk — volunteers moved with unprecedented speed to organize these supplies for shipment.
“It’s difficult to buy medical supplies for the affected areas, especially so many N95 respirators and safety goggles,” explained Tzu Chi volunteer, Mary Keh. “I’m really grateful to everyone for their support and assistance. We’re all striving to find ways to help the affected areas.”
Each box of medical supplies contains the love of tens of millions of people. We are truly grateful for the trust and commitment of every individual who has encouraged Tzu Chi volunteers while taking on this challenge as one family as we strive to help individuals stay protected.
The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in America continues its ascent, however, Tzu Chi USA’s early preventive action workshops have thankfully increased awareness regarding COVID-19 and the correct means of self-isolation. Volunteers additionally continue to conduct online prayers daily and encourage all to send their love as one at 1:30 PM each afternoon.
In a time when many are frightened and uncertain, know that your Tzu Chi family is here for you. With your love and positive energy, we’ll strive to help pave a path toward flattening the curve, and finally, emerge from the chaos of the pandemic into daybreak together.
