After disaster, recovery is a long journey. From Tzu Chi USA's Southern Region, volunteers from its Community Outreach Recovery Education (CORE) program returned to Wharton, Texas, on January 17, 2020 to visit residents. The program is one that was developed to help families deal with the long standing after-effects of Hurricane Harvey. In our increasingly digital- and distant- age, CORE has focused on face-to-face interactions that, in the process, sow sincerity and trust with those in need of assistance.

New York State implemented a ban on single-use plastic bags on March 1, 2020. In an effort to help New Yorkers adapt to this change, volunteers from Tzu Chi New York gathered to distribute 1,000 free eco-friendly bags at the Chung Fat Supermarket in Flushing the day before the ban took effect.

As worldwide concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic heightens, the medical community in New York has actively united to pave a path toward healing, and has shown their support for Tzu Chi’s fundraising campaign, "Providing Relief During the New Coronavirus Outbreak." Healthfirst, the Coalition of Asian-American IPA (CAIPA), and the Chinese American Dental Association (CADA) donated nearly $90,000 to Tzu Chi New York to facilitate the purchase of vital medical supplies to be delivered directly to medical institutions in the affected areas.

As the global pandemic accelerates, medical supplies for preventive measures have rapidly become valuable resources. Tzu Chi Medical Foundation obtained its third batch of medical supplies on February 25th, 2020. Volunteers prepared and packed 474 safety goggles and 960 N95 respirators in 11 boxes to be delivered to medical professionals in COVID-19 affected areas across China.
