In the Bay Area of Northern California, the post-pandemic recession and layoffs in the high-tech sector have exacerbated the long-lasting housing shortage. The number of homeless people has skyrocketed in the past two years. Tzu Chi volunteers went to homeless shelters in the middle of winter to distribute hot Chinese meals to warm the stomachs and hearts of those in need.

On November 29th, 2023, four New York Tzu Chi volunteers traveled over 2,000 kilometers to drive the brand-new revamped Da.Ai Mobile Clinic to New York. This is the 12th Tzu Chi mobile clinic in the U.S. and it holds great potential for the vulnerable populations in the New York area.

Tzu Chi Midwest Region hosted its Annual Gala on November 11, 2023. Old friends and new friends gathered together, sharing stories of love, while enjoying wonderful performances. Refugees from different countries were thankful for Tzu Chi's long-term care and vowed to become volunteers in the future, calling on more people to gather together to do good deeds, so that the power of goodness can grow stronger and stronger.

On August 2, Tzu Chi volunteers held their monthly food distribution in the parking lot of an America Legion Hall in Monterey Park, California. This was the third food distribution for recent immigrants held by Tzu Chi since June this year.

On August 4, 2023, the 27th Dallas Mayor's Back To School Fair was held at Fair Park. The event was organized by Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson, in collaboration with Tzu Chi, to provide services and essential school supplies to underserved students from kindergarten to 12th grade.

Tzu Chi volunteers in Los Angeles held donation boxes and appealed to people to do a great deal of good with a small amount of money, helping the survivors of the fires in Maui, Hawaii overcome their difficulties. Although it may be a long road to rebuild their homes, it is hoped that with the love and care sent to them, survivors will be able to rekindle their spirit and continue to strive for a better future.
