Tzu Chi USA Scholars

NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

The Tzu Chi USA Scholarship, funded by the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, provides financial assistance to outstanding college-bound high school graduates and returning undergraduate scholars within selected regions of the United States. Scholars are selected based on financial need, academic pursuit(Commitment to continuing education at a college or university), and a strong commitment to community involvement. Applications are now open! Please ensure your application is submitted by the April 15, 2026 deadline.

  COLLEGE-BOUND HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES

** Please complete the Application form first

 
Eligibility
  1. Applicant demonstrates financial need for college tuition and related expenses.
  2. Applicant is a U.S. high school graduating senior or equivalent.
  3. Applicant will enroll in an accredited U.S. college full-time for the academic year 2026-2027.
Requirements
  1. A completed Tzu Chi USA Scholarship application form for High School students. 
  2. A copy the following documents demonstrating financial need and showing the name of the applicant:
    • Family’s complete 2025 1040 U.S. Income Tax Return, including all schedules,  or
    • Any official documentation from the government agency that serves as proof of financial hardship
  3. One community recommendation letter

    Important: Please black out all Social Security Numbers on all of the financial documents for security purpose.

Please ensure your application is submitted by the April 15, 2026 deadline.

CONTINUING UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

** Please complete the Application form first

 
Eligibility
  1. Applicant MUST be a former Tzu Chi Scholarship recipient.
  2. Applicant demonstrates financial need for college tuition and related expenses.
  3. Applicant has a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  4. Applicant will enroll in an accredited U.S. college full-time for the academic year 2026-2027.
  5. Applicant has completed 50 volunteering hours with Tzu Chi or another non-profit organization in the current academic year.
Requirements
  1.  A completed Tzu Chi Scholarship application form for continuing undergraduate students.
  2.  A copy of one of the three following financial documents demonstrating financial needs and showing the name of the applicant:
    • Family’s complete 2025 1040 U.S. Income Tax Return including all schedules, or
    • Any official documentation from the government agency which serves as proof of financial hardship
  3. A latest official college transcript
  4. A signed proof of completion of 50 volunteering hours
