Eloise Gómez Reyes, California State Assembly Majority Leader, and the assembly member representing California’s 50th District organized the 2023 Nonprofit Awards Ceremony on June 3 in Ontario, CA. 25 organizations, including Tzu Chi USA, the American Red Cross, and the American Cancer Society, received certificates of recognition, and the Ángeles Especiales Parent Support Group, which provides assistance to families of children with special needs, was awarded Non-Profit of the Year.

To help community residents maintain their physical and mental well-being, Tzu Chi USA collaborated with the California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA) and the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) to host the “Resilience in Action” Summit on June 10th. More than ten experts and scholars were invited to discuss how to grow amidst adversity.
For the past 27 years, Tzu Chi USA Headquarters volunteers have offered food distributions, medical care, character education, emergency relief, and other services to the San Bernardino community with love. On April 18, 2023, the San Bernardino City Unified School District presented an award to Tzu Chi for its contributions to the community.
The “San Gabriel Valley Consortium on Homelessness” in southern California resumed its in-person annual conference at the Tzu Chi USA Headquarters campus this year. Nearly 200 participants from all walks of life gathered to discuss housing planning and affordable housing policies in the San Gabriel Valley, in hopes of helping those in need in the area.
San Bernardino, California, is one of the poorest areas in the state. So in December 2022, Tzu Chi USA volunteers held a charity clinic for low-income residents to wish them a healthy and happy New Year.
