Background
Despite recent efforts, access to education for the girl-child remains a challenge, with over 130 million girls still out of school. In order to truly address the education gaps that girls face and ensure no one is left behind, multiple sectors must be engaged to create a comprehensive safety net of strong social protection systems, holistic public services, and sustainable infrastructure.
Expected Outcomes
The panel will convene representatives from UN agencies, the private sector, faith-based organizations and NGOs in dialogue, investigating the gaps girls face in accessing comprehensive quality education, whether in protracted refugee situations, disaster-stricken environments or man-made conflicts, and how various entities can partner to strengthen access to public services and create sustainable infrastructure. Additionally, the panel will reflect on successful models of action and partnership that other organizations can adapt.
