Long Island Community Takes on a Plant-Based Diet for a Better Planet

A volunteer from the Tzu Chi Northeast Region wanted to help her community in Long Island. Lilian Kuo saw an opportunity to improve the lives of food distribution recipients by presenting them with a 21 Day Healthy Challenge. The project was a huge undertaking, and it didn’t come without its obstacles, but Lilian persevered. With help from her team, participants, and a local restaurant, the initiative was more successful than she could have ever imagined.

El Menahil International School Takes on Anti-bullying in Schools Program to Promote Great Love

Founded by the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation in 2015, El Menahil International School serves Syrian families displaced by violence and conflict by providing education and support for children, adults, and their families. Designed to boost awareness and build upon the concepts of great love without limits, the Tzu Chi Character Education team established an “Anti-bullying in Schools” program to help students and teachers spot the signs of bullying. Also taught in the U.S., this program was carried out via a 30-minute group class. The one-week course took place from February 28 to March 4, 2022.

An Open Letter for Love and Relief From Buddhist Tzu Chi Charity Foundation CEO

As of June 16, 2022, over 8 million people in Ukraine have been internally displaced. Since February 24, the number of Ukrainians who have left their homeland surpassed 7.3 million, with more than half seeking safety in Poland. Buddhist Tzu Chi Charity Foundation CEO Po-Wen Yen has published an open letter to boost international awareness of Tzu Chi’s efforts to help the people of Ukraine, hoping that love will inspire more people to assist in alleviating the physical and spiritual pain of Ukrainians in the midst of this crisis.

Tzu Chi Poland’s Supply Distribution Aids Ukrainian Refugees in Poznań

Last week, Tzu Chi volunteers in Poland provided essential supplies for 300 people in the city of Poznań. The carefully arranged backpacks contained pantry staples and other daily necessities for Ukrainian refugees to pick up with ease. Local students had additionally called upon their classmates to assist in the distribution, and company directors drove trucks to help Tzu Chi deliver the supplies locally.

Volunteers Deliver Timely Love and Care Following Salisbury Apartment Fire

On January 17, 2022, a massive 9-alarm fire sparked in Salisbury, Massachusetts, affecting at least 30 families. The day of Tzu Chi’s relief distribution, February 5, happened to coincide with the Lunar New Year. Thus, in addition to warm, eco-friendly scarves, blankets, and bamboo banks, oranges and biscuits were also provided.
