Since 2008, Tzu Chi USA’s Northwest Region has been dedicated to offering courses that promote lifelong learning and personal growth for the community. In more recent years, we’ve carefully curated a diverse range of practical and engaging topics, further enhancing the value and accessibility of our programs. Through joyful learning experiences and the sharing of positive wisdom, our students have discovered meaningful insights to enrich and inspire their lives. Join us!

Adult Mandarin Proficiency Builder

This focused program is designed for foundation-level learners who want to strengthen listening, speaking, and reading in a structured and supportive environment. Lessons emphasize practical language use, vocabulary expansion, and test-style practice to help you measure real progress and build confidence. 

Whether you are continuing from a novice level or aiming to sharpen your overall proficiency, this summer course offers guided practice, clear learning goals, and steady improvement in just a few hours each week.

Chinese Calligraphy Study

Exploring the essence of various Chinese calligraphy styles and understanding the relationship between regular script (kai-shu), running script (xing-shu), and cursive script (cao-shu).

Chinese Painting

The beauty of artistic conception in Chinese traditional painting is distinct from other forms of painting. With concise and refined brushwork and colors, it allows one to immerse their thoughts and emotions, fostering contemplation and purifying the soul.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi emphasizes the balance of mind and body, and the harmony between movement and stillness. Through slow, rhythmic movements, this practice aims to strengthen the body, relieve stress, and cultivate overall well-being. We welcome anyone interested in Tai Chi to start from the basics with us and embark on a journey toward a healthier life.

Registration Fee does not include material costs. Bring white or black flat-soled athletic shoes (one pair for indoor and one for outdoor use) , sunscreen, and drinking water.

June 19- July 31

Tai Chi Sword

Tai Chi Sword combines traditional Tai Chi principles with gentle, flowing sword movements to support both physical and mental well-being. It helps improve balance, flexibility, coordination, and stress relief while cultivating inner harmony. A foundation in Tai Chi is required.

Jing Si Flower Arrangement

Showcasing the truth, goodness, and beauty of plants and flowers. ‘Truth’ is her soul, ‘goodness’ is her sentiment, and ‘beauty’ is her posture.

Through the continuous practice and study of various floral arrangements, students will elevate their sharp artistic sensibility and cultivate a personality of ease, elegance, and harmony. Participants will learn to recognize natural flowers and plant characteristics, select floral materials, utilize various vases and vessels, arrange floral compositions, and master the art of balance.

Floral fees depend on the specific flowers used each week. Prices vary by season and are calculated per class. (Fees to be collected independently by the class.)

Mindfulness posture

Learn how to apply proper sitting, standing, and walking postures to your daily routine. Through hands-on, interactive learning, you will discover the vital importance of good posture. Our goal is to ensure you leave with the confidence to apply these techniques, leading to a healthier lifestyle.

Come and master the art of “Perfect Posture” with us! Maintaining the right posture every single day is your key to better health.

June 1- JuLY 13

Line Dance

Line Dancing is a type of dance performed in rows, with choreography created by renowned choreographers from around the world, based on musical melodies and personal styles. It is suitable for all ages—no dance partner required! Currently, line dancing has been listed as one of the most popular community activities in the world.

The GuQin is one of the oldest musical instruments in China, with a history of more than 3,000 years. It’s not as powerful as a piano, it’s not as warm as a guitar, it’s still and distant, like an echo in a valley, and like a whisper under a lamp at night.
