I. Enrollment of Current Students for 2024-25
  1. Registration opening date: March 30, 2024
  2. The fees for current students for the 2024/2025 School Year are $545 (including $20 registration fee, $25 material fee and $500 tuition).
  3. Please write your check to: Tzu Chi Academy, Cupertino
  4. Steps to enroll a Current Student:
  5. Current students who have not completed registration by the start of the 2024-25 school year will be registered in accordance with the “Enrollment of New Students” rules, on the condition that enrollment is still available.
  1. Registration dates: March 30, 2024 to three weeks before the start of the school year (The registration may end earlier when the class is full). Please contact us for enrollment availability.
  2. Enrollment age:
    • Children who are four years old by 9/1/2024 (born before 9/2/2020) may be enrolled in the pre-K class.
    • Children who are five years old by 9/1/24 (born before 9/2/2019) may be enrolled in the Zhuyin (K) class.
  3. Placement test for transfer students: All transfer students enrolling in the Zhuyin (K) class or above must pass a test before admission which will be based on their test result. Individual transfer students will be contacted for schedule of the test. For details, please see section 5: Instructions for Transfer Students.
  4. Registration procedure: Please prepare photocopies of the Birth Certificate or Passport, fill out the online form- Enrollment Form for New Students, print, fill out and sign off the Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk Agreement and a check ($575 for new students), mail to

  5. Uniform: all new students must purchase the uniform at the time of registration. When coming to school, students must wear the uniform with the logo of Tzu Chi Academy ($20 for short sleeves/$25 for long sleeves), blue khaki pants, and white shoes.
  1. Tuition Fees: $545 for current students (includes $20 registration fee, $25 material fee and $500 tuition); $575 for new students (includes $50 registration fee, $25 material fee and $500 tuition). Registration fees are non-refundable.
  2. Please write checks payable to: Tzu Chi Academy, Cupertino
  3. Uniform: $25 for one winter long sleeve shirt, $20 for one summer short sleeve shirt.
  4. Please write “Student’s name and enrollment class” in the memo field at the lower left corner of your check.
  5. Enrolling three or more siblings from the same family will be eligible to receive $48 off for the third child, please contact the registration team for details.
  6. Returned checks will be subject to a fee of $35.
  1. If a refund is applied for a registered student, the registration and textbook fees will not be refundable; please contact the registration team and fill out a refund application form if you wish to apply for a refund/schooling suspension.
  2. If a class is not available due to insufficient class size, all amounts paid will be refunded without deduction of the registration fee.

  • New students, except pre-K students, shall take a placement test. The school staff will contact parents for the test date.
  • The placement test will be composed of a written test and an interview, which will focus on listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Zhuyin(K) class: The study will focus on the learning of 37 Zhuyin symbols, with focal consideration of students’ acceptance of the Mandarin Class. 
  • Grade 1: The test will be on the reading and writing of the Zhuyin symbols, including vowels, rhymes, and combined rhymes.
  • Grade 2 and above: Please refer to the MeiZhou Chinese textbooks http://www.mzchinese.net/ and do the textbooks (of the student’s “class level before the summer) listening, speaking, reading, and writing quizzes. (Preparations may only be focused on the latter half of the textbook for each class level, the teacher will take one or two lessons to perform the quiz.)
  • Students taking the placement test do not need to be stressed about the test, as the results of the interview will be at discretion subject to the student’s interactions.

*** Testing of students enrolling in the Zhuyin(K) class will be in-person meetings through which the teacher may learn about students’ interactions in Chinese and their knowledge of the Zhuyin symbols. Parents are allowed to accompany the students during the test.

Our School

Tzu Chi Academy Cupertino established in September 1999, aims to promote Tzu Chi’s humanity education. The curriculum includes cultural classes, including current affairs, doing good deeds, filial piety, environmental protection, mutual help and other current world issues, so that children can use Chinese in their lives while learning Chinese.
