This May, join us for a special celebration of the 55th anniversary of the Global Tzu Chi Foundation for Tzu Chi Day, coinciding with Buddha Day! Watch as Tzu Chi volunteers across the United States participate in a virtual performance of “The Life of the Buddha” to mark this auspicious occasion.
After experiencing the hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tzu Chi volunteers across the United States will join in a virtual performance of “The Life of the Buddha.” The occasion honors Buddha Day and Tzu Chi Day, in which the Global Tzu Chi Foundation celebrates its 55th anniversary of compassion and relief.
Accompanied by graceful songs, you will see performances that artistically reenact the story of his birth, aging, hardships including illness, and death. You will also witness the austerity of his spiritual practice, enlightenment, and the turning of the Dharma wheel (or the passing on of the Buddha’s teachings).
As we honor this occasion, we hope to keep the Buddha’s life and story in our hearts, reflect on his original vow, his perseverance, and realize the true meaning of Buddhism.
ake your reverence a meaningful step further and make a promise to go vegetarian or vegan with the help of the Very Veggie Movement. It is a secular initiative to bring awareness to and honor the lives of all sentient beings, reduce the environmental impacts of animal farming, and stem the onset of the next global pandemic.
