Tzu Chi also holds annual free kidney function screenings. This year’s Kidney Function Screening will take place on Saturday, April 13 from 9 am to 2 pm at the Tzu Chi Foundation Northwest Region campus (2355 Oakland Road, San Jose, CA 95131). This event is sponsored by the National Kidney Foundation and will provide screening for people who are at least 18 years old and want to know about their kidney health, especially those who have high blood pressure, diabetes or have a family history of kidney disease.

Screening time varies from 20 to 40 minutes per person. Each person is asked to fill out a survey of living habits, family medical history, health status, blood pressure, body fat. You will receive a medical consultation and those deemed high-risk will undergo a urine test. Due to the length of the screening, we are limited to 100 screenings that day. 

If you are 18 years or older and wish to secure a screening time, please call 408-457-6969 as soon as possible to register. Tzu Chi volunteers will call you with a reminder a week before the screening. Please arrive prior to your appointment time and bring all prescription medications with you.
