Remembering 9/21
On September 21, 1999, a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck Taiwan and became the most severe natural disaster in Taiwan since WWII. Tzu Chi volunteers began disaster relief shortly after and continued with mid to long term recovery plans, from reconstruction to continuous care for survivors.
During initial relief missions, the Phoenix Service Center in addition to 13 countries from around the globe joined hands to fundraise for survivors of the 1999 Taiwan Earthquake, suspending all activities until the end of October to prioritize survivor recovery. We have not forgotten the pain and difficulties we shared with survivors as we accompanied them on the road to recovery.
On the 20th anniversary of the 1999 Taiwan Earthquake, we welcome you to join us in remembering this unforgettable journey and reunite as a community to inspire hope for the future. It will be a night to celebrate you and honor the difference you have made for people in need throughout the world with your generous contributions.
Save the date for this wonderful occasion as we join hands to cultivate love and hope in lives throughout the world.
