Depending on your location, the process of this activity in Tzu Chi Regional offices may have changed in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our communities. Our new formats include in-person, and drop-off, and virtual services.
Since 2013, the Tzu Chi Greater Washington D.C region has been assisting eligible taxpayers across the United States file their annual income tax through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
How to receive help:

- Please ensure you satisfy the following requirements for eligibility:
- Total household income less than $60,000
- No 1040 NR (Nonresident Alien)
- No foreign income
- No International student tax return filing
- Please be prepared with the following required documents for your appointment:
- Photo ID for you, spouse and/or dependent(s)
- Social Security card or ITIN card for all family members
- All forms of W-2, 1099, and other income
- All forms and documentation for deductions, such as 1098 (Mortgage Interest), 1098T (Tuition Statement) and expenses, child care expenses and provider’s Tax ID number
- Last year’s and 2019 tax return
- Copy of voided check
- Health Insurance Card and/or 1095 form
- Child Tax Credit Letter 6419 from IRS
- Identity Protection Pin # (if you have)
- Photo ID for you, spouse and/or dependent(s)
